Arden Releases New Supercharger Kit for Range Rover SC Models

For those that want to give a bit more oomph to their pre-facelift Range Rover and Range Rover Sport models with 4.2-liter supercharged V8 engines, Arden has developed a new performance kit that will give an extra 80HP for an overall output of 470HP. The German tuner's kit includes a new supercharger, special programmed ECU, Arden Air Intake Ducts and a new exhaust with sport catalytic converters. Sounds nice but there's a 'small' catch; the price of the complete kit excluding taxes and installation has been set at €19,500 or around $26,000.

If we were you, we'd do the math and see if it's actually worth it -especially if you have a relatively new model- as the facelifted versions of both the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport with 510HP supercharged V8s are just around the corner.

Facelifted Range Rover Sport gets new V6 Diesel and V8 Petrol units

With the presentation of the 2010 Range Rover Sport we complete our coverage on the facelifted Land Rovers that began with the 2010 Range Rover and continued with the 2010 Discovery 4 or LR4. Like its two other siblings, the updated Range Rover Sport that will bow for the first time to the public at the New York Auto Show, benefits from upgrades to the design and under-the-skin enhancements.

2010 Range Rover Sport facelift CarscoopChanges to the exterior are more widespread compared to the standard Range Rover and include a redesigned fascia with new LED headlamps, two-bar grille, front bumper and wings while at the rear, the luxury SUV gains new light clusters and a restyled bumper.

The Range Rover Sport's interior has also been subtly redesigned with Land Rover officials claiming that the facia now has 50 per cent fewer switches thus offering a cleaner look. The higher quality materials and the updated trim options complete the upgrades.

The most significant changes on the 2010 Range Rover Sport are however to its powertrains as the SUV benefits from two new engines, a 3.0-liter twin-turbo diesel producing 245HP and 600Nm of torque and a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 petrol unit with 510HP and 625Nm. Both engines are hooked up to a revised six-speed automatic transmission.

Land Rover has also fiddled around with the Range Rover Sport's chassis to improve handling. The facelifted model sees the introduction of new systems such as Adaptive Dynamics that works in conjunction with the existing Dynamic Response, and the addition of the more road-focused Dynamic Program to the Terrain Response system.

2010 Range Rover Facelift with new 510HP Supercharged V8

These are the first official photographs of the redesigned Range Rover that will be making its premiere along with its facelifted Range Rover Sport sibling and the Discovery / LR3 at the New York International Auto Show. Land Rover's premium SUV has received mild styling tweaks in and out along with a series of mechanical upgrades that include the addition of a new 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine.

The design enhancements to the 2010 Range Rover include subtle exterior revisions with changes to the headlights, grille and bumper as well as the new 'three-stripe' LED indicators and redesigned three-section fender vents.

The SUV's interior benefits from new leather trim for the headlining, pillar and door casings while the facia buttons now feature a satin chrome-plated finish. Moreover, the 2010 model features a new dual view touch screen infotainment system plus what Land Rover claims to be the world's largest configurable 12-in. Thin Film Transistor (TFT) screen which is found in the instrument cluster.

The most important news under the hood concerns the replacement of the 4.2-liter Supercharged V8 with a new 5.0-litre supercharged V8 petrol engine which is the same one used in the Jaguar XFR. It develops an output of 510HP and a peak torque of 625Nm.

Land Rover supports that despite the significant hike in both power (29 percent) and torque (+12 percent), the new supercharged V8 improves fuel consumption by 7.3 percent to 19mpg UK (14.8 lt/100km or 15.6mpg US) on the EU cycle and CO2 emissions by 7.4 percent to 348g/km, compared with its 4.2-litre Supercharged predecessor.

Other improvements for the 2010 Range Rover include the more powerful braking system, the updated Terrain Response and Stability Control systems and the new surround camera system which helps make parking easier.
