Officiel: Jaguar prépare un break de la XF



Les prestigieux constructeurs allemands Audi, BMW et Mercedes-Benz règnent en maître sur les segments premium. Surtout quand ces derniers sont déserté par la concurrence. C'est le cas des breaks routiers où Jaguar entend bien venir tenter sa chance.

Cette sous catégorie du segment des routières est donc principalement occupé par Audi (A6 Avant), BMW (Série 5 Touring) et Mercedes (Classe E Break). On y trouve aussi les Volvo V60/V70, Cadillac CTS Sportwagon, Saab 9-5 Estate, mais toutes ces concurrentes sont peu visibles sur nos routes. Il faut dire que face à la domination allemande, et même si elles ne manquent pas d'arguments, elles ont bien difficile à se faire une place au soleil! Cela pourrait changer d'ici peu avec l'arrivée d'un nouveau venu... anglais.

Jaguar pense en effet à élaborer une variante break de son XF, sans doute sous le nom d'Estate. Celle-ci viendra remplir la gamme de la marque anglaise qui n'a plus connu de break depuis la disparition de la X-Type Estate dans le segment inférieur, celui des famillailes, qui a quitté le catalogue en même temps que sa variante berline il y a quelques années maintenant.

1 313 km au volant de la nouvelle XF 2.2D avec un seul plein



La nouvelle Jaguar XF équipée d'un nouveau moteur diesel 2.2 à quatre cylindres promet d'être la Jaguar la plus économique jamais. Afin de prouver cela, un exemplaire d'essai a parcouru un trajet épique de Castle Bromwich à Birmingham – l'usine où la voiture est construite – à Munich, et a enjambé de ce fait une distance de 1 313 km avec un seul plein de carburant!

La voiture était conduite par David Madgwick, un pilote d'essai indépendant, et était accompagné par copilote Alexander Madgwick. La XF équipée d'origine a parcouru un trajet qui a traversé quatre pays et qui l'a mené aussi bien par des petits chemins de campagne que par des autoroutes ou du trafic de ville fort dense. La XF qui a été utilisée avait 5 000 km au compteur au départ et a consommé 4,9 l/100 km en moyenne.

Andy Whyman, Chief Programme Engineer pour la XF, qui était sur place pour accueillir la voiture à son arrivée à Munich, a dit: "Toute l'équipe des ingénieurs qui était impliqué lors du développement de la XF 2.2D est très fière de ce que la voiture a atteint: ce résultat ne souligne pas seulement le caractère économique de la voiture, mais démontre également que l'économie et les performances peuvent aller de pair."

Malgré cette insistance sur l'aspect économique de la XF 2.2D, cette voiture développe une puissance de 190 ch et un couple de 450 Nm qui font que l'auto passe de 0 à 100 km/h en 8,5 secondes et atteint une vitesse maximale de 225 km/h. Le taux d'émissions de CO2 de la XF 2.2D est de 149 g/km. Le nouveau moteur diesel 2.2 litres est couplé à une transmission automatique ZF à 8 rapports et à un système avancé Stop/Start qui contribuent aux performances de la voiture. La XF 2.2D est la toute première Jaguar à être équipée du système Stop/Start.

La Jaguar XF 2.2D sera commercialisée en septembre 2011 et fait partie de la gamme Jaguar XF renouvelée. La XF bénéficie dans ce contexte d'un design rafraîchi, d'un intérieur plus luxueux et d'un équipement plus complet.

Jaguar and Land Rover to Enter Indian Market for the First Time

Tata's newly formed "Jaguar Land Rover" premiere car group has announced that it will enter the Indian market for the first time later this year. The Jaguar and Land Rover models will be distributed in the country by the British group's owner, India's Tata Motors Limited with the first showroom scheduled to be open at Ceejay House in Worli, Mumbai, in June this year. The group's initial portfolio will include the Jaguar XF and XK, and the Land Rover Discovery and Range Rover models.

"We are delighted to be formally entering the Indian market, an economy which is still growing appreciably, and able to offer our premium products to a whole new group of customers," said David Smith, CEO of Jaguar Land Rover. "It is an important strategic move for Jaguar Land Rover and will enable us to realize our competitive potential in this significant market."

2010 Jaguar XJ: Official Teaser Photos and Video

At its Shanghai Auto Show press conference today, Jaguar revealed the first teaser shots along with a brief video and initial details on its all-new XJ luxury sedan ahead of the car's official debut that is planned for July 9, 2009. The British firm said that the its new Mercedes-Benz S-Class rival will be offered with a choice of standard- or long wheelbase models that can be equipped with all of Jaguar's new Gen III petrol and diesel engines, including the 3.0-liter V6 diesel with 240 and 275HP and the 5.0-liter supercharged V8 that produces 510HP.

Speaking at Auto Shanghai 2009, Jaguar Cars Managing Director, Mike O'Driscoll confirmed that the all-new XJ will be the first car to feature the next-generation of the British automaker's aerospace-inspired, aluminum body architecture that should help reduce the car's weight.

O'Driscoll also claimed that the 2010 XJ "will introduce the highest standards of personal luxury and specification, including a panoramic glass roof."

Depending on market, the British firm's flagship sedan model will be in Jaguar dealerships from the end of this year.

Arden Releases new Front-End Conversion Set for Jaguar XF

Since the usage of daytime running lights is statutory in many countries, Jaguar and Land Rover tuning specialist Arden decided to develop a new option for the XF sports sedan. Priced at €995 (+tax), the LED daytime running light set are fitted on the original front of the XF and in particular, they are incorporated on the decorative bars of the brake air vents. The LEDs can be complemented by Arden's new stainless steel radiator and front grille set (€1,190 +tax) and a Jaguar bonnet mascot (€235 +tax).
